Quality Assurance/Quality Control
Forensic & Industrial Science Ltd performs screening assessments in line with the New Zealand Standard 8510:2017 Testing and decontamination of methamphetamine-contaminated properties. We are also accredited by International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ) for surface sampling during these assessments.
All of our inspectors hold a university qualification in Forensic Science and/or Chemistry and are trained in locating signs of clandestine methamphetamine manufacture while on site.
Our standard turnaround time for screening assessments is three working days. Shorter turnaround times can be arranged with an additional surcharge.
Sampling methodology
A discrete sample is taken from each “high use” area of a building, and samples are composited (i.e. combined) by our laboratory. Following the NZS 8510:2017, a theoretical maximum is calculated for each composite sample which can be compared to the decontamination level of 1.5 µg/100cm2. If this theoretical maximum is above the decontamination level, the discrete samples that made up the composite sample can be analysed individually upon request without having to return to the property and collect more samples.
